The WeWilder experience opened up a gateway for me to become aware of deeper aspects of Life. Learning about wildlife tracking, trailing, sit spots and sleep-outs transformed my relationship with myself and the more than human world and offered me the possibility to start understanding Life in a unique way. This experience put me on a path of eco-awakening and ever since I've encountered the gaze of the Wild Bison I have been nurturing my relationship with Nature in ways that I did not have access to before.

The guides put enough of themselves to let nature be the guide, striking the balance between delighting us with knowledge of plants, birdsong and berries and letting us be. The practices of sit-spotting, night watch and walking in silent attention brought me into a state of greater intimacy with life, the feeling of which has persisted in my return to less tranquil environments. The food was also strikingly good. The inventiveness of the dishes was of the quality of any European capital.

I experienced an insight into a remote and beautifully rare landscape of ancient beech forests on mountain ranges. It was more than a trek to potentially sight the rewilded bison but a treasured time for inner reflection and to reap the rewards of team work while camping, cooking and gathering water and wood in the Carpathian Mountains. It provided a glimpse of the realities facing Romanian rural populations and the challenges as well as beauty of their environment.
